Public Lighting Program
PUBLIC LIGHTING MANAGEMENT PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF SALE
On 19 June 2013, the Salé Urban Municipality launched a call for Expression of Interest to set up a partnership agreement defining the financing, design, reconstruction, maintenance and operation of the public lighting installations the city of Salé.
The tenderer is OKSA which will be in charge of the operational part of the project for a period of 15 years.
This partnership between the Urban Community of Salé, SIE and OKSA has created "Sala Noor”, the local development corporation (LDC) entirely dedicated to the public lighting management of the city of Salé. This project benefits from FEC's contribution to the financing of a share of the communal participation in the equity of the LDC. This assembly was supported by the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Energy, Mines, Water and Environment. It will allow a transparent management of public lighting, which benefits from the expertise of the specialized Moroccan private operator , OKSA.
"Sala Noor" is therefore to ensure public lighting quality, responsive to and required by standards for comfort and safety, and secondly, strives to meet the budget constraints of the city through the control of energy costs related to public lighting.
Through this project and with the valuable assistance of the Ministry of Interior, SIE wants to build a public lighting management model which is potentially applicable to other cities of the Kingdom, and which contributes greatly to the long term reduction of peak power demand at a national level.
